The Jeep Journals

I left my corporate job on 7/21/17 in order to help showcase Nature for Mother Nature fans online. I did not arrive easily at this decision since my corporate job paid extremely well and included amazing benefits. Alas, the one benefit I was not easily allowed was the time to immediately pursue any and all wild events happening any and all moments of every day throughout the world. I know it would have helped me greatly to see more Nature during the work week, so that is what I’ve set out to bring to you. Stay tuned!

Making Music

Welcome Back, Everybody! Thank you so much for following along with The Jeep Journals to see where the roads will take us! Today I am sharing a photo of a guitar that I received in the mail this past Monday, the first shipping day of the year for me. Last year, I received numerous broken guitars in the mail even including one that I ordered two times in the same make and model which happened to be damaged in the same spot in both cases. This one this year? PERFECT!

For those who are not privy to what the scene is portraying, the backdrop is the nighttime skyline of San Antonio, Texas, the alien attack fighters are from the Independence Day movie franchise, and the Jeep you see in the foreground is my Jeep captured as part of the artwork of a custom one of a kind guitar that I look forward to bringing some amazing music to life with! Wait ‘till you see the front of this guitar, I think it is the most amazing guitar I have ever beheld!

Anyway, today is two days after my father’s birthday and already we have experienced some major miscommunication. My father’s side of the family has seemingly done some wrong by both withholding his contact information from me for over a month and also sharing the proceeds from the sale of his property which was never really assigned to him as his parents willed it. Legalities aside, hiding family from other family seems like a totally disrespectful thing to do to a son.

In the meantime, for those who know the backstory, my father physically struck me repeatedly just two years ago as I held on to him for dear life while he was sitting next to me in the passenger seat of the Jeep you can almost imagine seeing thanks to the photo in this post. In the backseat was another relative who as it turns out would be one of the several who has withheld my father’s contact information from me for over a month AND later tried to justify it.

I guess what I’m sharing here (and saying, although in typed words, so both virtually AND in reality) is that athough there is a bit of… Conflict that has been apparent in some cases within my family… The truth itself has set me free from some of the experiences where I’d otherwise be spinning my wheels if I had a great need or desire to blindly continue “being there for” when those I’d be there for might never in fact ever choose to “be there” for me. Peace at last!

Music and sharing the story in the form of poems and art while also bonding with artists from around the nation and beyond has helped me to heal in ways that I never thought possible since some of these channels were not available as we were growing up, for some of us old enough to remember these changes, anyway! Can you remember when a basic telephone was all we had? One phone number, a landline, and answering machines did not yet exist for the public?

Conversations have been increasingly avoided with the now abundant opportunities to actually communicate. It can seem as if the ability to shine a great light of truth might be all it takes to obliterate all of the darkness of fear that we were previously taught to regard as something worth fearing. Who was it who said “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”? Anyway, if you care to begin watching the journey rather than just reading along, please click here to ride along!
